Leaking jet strombery carb!

Hi guys. I had a small problem with my RR on the weekend.
Was off driving down NSW and the car had a fairly strong petrol smell. More strong than usual anyway. After pulling over for some tucker I inspected the vehicle and found raw fuel dripping down onto the headers and onto the ground at an alarming rate. With extinguisher in hand I traced the fuel leak to what seems to be a rapid drip from the lean/rich mixer on the bottom of the passenger side carb. It had a drip going about every second so it was dumping fuel at an alarming rate. The only way to stop it was to hand tighten the jet right up which in turn made the drive home slow but at least the fuel stopped leaking. My 2 questions are:
Why, I had never touched this and how do I stop the leak? And how do I now rebalance the carbs to get runnning correctly after I stop the leak???
Any help would be great.
