2.8 Diesel Turbo No Boost

Hi, i have just put a turbo on my hilux 2.8 diesel off a 2.4 and it doesnt seem to have any boost. I have checked the wastegate and it seems to be working fine, turbo spins fine by hand both tubines spin together (thought it might have a broken shaft). When i give it a rev the boost gauge shows no boost until i back off then it reads 1 to 2 psi boost, tried different boost gauge and get the same reading. Got me stumped!!

where is the boost gauge plumbed into?

on top of the inlet manifold where the crankcase breather goes in on a non turbo motor

It wont show boost free reving as there is very little load, go for a drive.

Agree with hulsty, boost will only show up under some load. My nissan doesn't start boosting on the gauge until around 1500rpm when driving, and won't show any boost if revved up in neutral until around 4000rpm

I would cut the wastegate hose, put a t piece in and plumb the boost guage from there.

Thanks guys, have been driving around for 3 or 4 days with boost gauge but boost has never read on gauge. I just bought a manual boost controller and as soon as i pluged it in and started driving i got a reading on the boost gauge :D . Only reading 6psi at the moment but i might wind it up in a week or so just see how it runs at the moment. Where abouts do you guys have your boost gauges plumbed in?
