Just bought a gxl 100 series, was just thinking about if a wheel came off the ground, and you gently put your foot on the brake while accelerating, would the abs sense this and make the stationary wheel start spinning again? It only has road tyres on it at the minute and is stock as a rock but i took it over a steep little ledge( not quite 2 foot high) this arvo just to check out its stock articulation, and at one stage it seemed like it was just going to spin opposing wheels and i was riding the brake a little and it made that tipical abs shudder thru the brake pedal and started moving forward again.

If you adjust your handbrake so it actually works, you can get some success with the rear diff.
Not sure about ABS personally, mine hasn't got it.

Handbrake! Landcruiser! Work!!!!
Yeah, right.
Also, they aren't a patrol design, so they don't tend to lock up harder with load like the patrols do. Mainly spring pre-load on the clutch packs.

Yes, the handbrakes can work when adjusted properly, Not just by tightening the cable.

On mine the variance between too tight (drags, overheats, binds on highway) and "kindof works sortof" is 2 clicks of the adjuster on the shoes, or one drive through water / mud.
It also works differently depending if you are going forward, backward or stationary when you apply it.

We do different lining and modify the dog bones to improve the toyota hand brake, it improves it by about 50%, but its not a patrol hand brake, thats for sure.
