Was wondering if any know for sure whether it posible to bolt a split transfer case in where the older one is ?? was wanting to go that way for reduction gears, wanting to find out before i buy the gears and pull it all apart.

Yes it is possible to use a split t/case in an earlier model cruiser and this would be a good mod to do, as the early t/case are prone to spliting if you push them too hard.
A lot would depend on how your early t/case is in place: does it have any mounts on it??
you would also need the split case with the handbrake set up on it (unless you have changed to the handbrake on the rear drums, which is not a bad idea to do) plus you would have to get the early model output flanges fitted to the split case, some already have them.
Probably the easiest thing to do would be get the two case and put them side by side and see what differences there are, you might also have to look at tail shaft lengths if the outputs are closer/further away.
Are you running a 3 or 4 speed at the moment? All of the above applies if you have a 4 speed, three may be a completely different matter....

Isn't the split case 19 spline and the single piece 16?
