diesel problems

hi all,
have a 105 land cruiser diesel non turbo..
it seems to 'chug" or surge at 2000 rpm and blow smoke
have had injectors cleaned..no warning light on dash...
any ideas on problem...
asked diesel place they said do pump as it may fix it...

what colour smoke
what speed when doing 200 rpm or is this just free reving
what gear is this in

black smoke...somtimes little bit of blue
at 2000rpm mostly in 4th gear and 5 th gear

TPS is out of adjustment... guaranteed

could be the pump or could be a valve problem. Start with the pump. Keep in mind this won't be a cheap exercise...

Yes TPS, the only thing it controls is the EGR valve, when it gets out of adjustment it lets the EGR open too early, all of our 100 series as well as 79/79's have that problem, easy to adjust, you can test if it is the problem by disconnecting the vacuum hose that opens the valve then take it for a drive, you will find the solenoid with the hose running from the round chamber located along the intake pipe over the tappet cover just unplug it and try
