Rancho VS TJM Homebrand

It's come time for me to replace the shock absorbers on the front of my IFS hilux, and I have a toss up between TJM homebrand for $120 ea or Rancho's for $130 ea. I've never had any experience with either, and I would like some opinions before i go and make the choice. The hilux in question is the 2.7L 3rz, not the heavier v6, and it gets used for a lot of high way driving but also mild-hard 4x4 usually once or twice a month...
So opinions please?

fairly limited selection there.
Are they your only options? THere are much better options out there than both...
if they are your only choice, then TJM by a country 203982039023902398mile

Definitely open to suggestions on other shocks, just have a friend in the 4x4 club who works for tjm and a soft spot for Superior engineering who each supply those shocks.

Hmmm, the TJM's I had years ago were valved exceptionally badly. Like really really badly.
The Ranchos were valved well, I guess you get that with a dial on them, but they just are not durable.
I'd try something other than those. How much are the ARB/OME ones?

ARB tend to be valved pretty firm/hard.

What about Ironman, Tough Dog, Raw, EFS just to name a few.
Have a look at 4wd1, they seem to have good prices, or get in touch with "Suspension Stuff" off here, he might look after you.

I did a fair bit of the "R & D" on the TJM EGS GOLD edition shocks for 2 years before they went into circulation, in events all around AUS such as OUTBACK CHALLENGE, WINCH CHALLENGE SERIES up & down the east coast, AllTERAIN CHALLENGES ECT ECT ECT.
The standard XGS is good for normal 4WDing & sit at the same level as rancho or OME.
The XGS GOLD were desighned for prolonged extreme use & are desighned to sit with the likes of KONI & BILSTEN. Everything in the golds is stronger, thicker, better than the standards.
In all the events I have done the golds never let me down..where I have seen other brands wreck an event for other competitors..
