LC HZJ 75 transfer case questions

Hi guys,
I just defected from the Landrover forum :-D. I have a Defender 130 and I bought an ex-military Landcruiser 75 1998 model. It is not a common truck in Israel, which means I will have a lot of questions to ask here :-).
The transfer case on the truck I bought is broken. I can get a good deal on a gear and transfer from an early 90's petrol LC 80, manual gear. Do you think the transfer case and/or transfer+gear will work on my truck? (1998 HZJ75).
Thanks,
Erez

Can't help with the transfer/gear questions, but please post some photos of your cruiser.

This is our new addition to the family:

(not sure why, I can't use the 'img' button to put pics IN the message?)
As you can see, it is quite banged up, I got it from the military with 420,000 km. The mechanics are good except for the transfer case which is broken. The body is not so good... there is a lot of rust. I started working on the truck today, removed all the interior, cut the rotten parts out so that I can replace them.
Maybe maybe maybe... I may have gotten my hands on a rolling chassis from a LC 80, which will give me a push in the coil suspension direction.
I'll post more updates when I have them.

Thanks!
I forgot to ask - I can get a late 60s series transfer case from a friend. It is attached to a 4 shift manual gear. Is this something that can help me ? Is there any chance that the internal parts are the same as the LC75 ?

early 75 and 60 series stuff is sometimes interchangeable but 60 series gear won't go up to HZJ stuff....

what gearbox is your cruiser running? does it have the H55F? (cast iron case gearbox) or is it an alloy gearbox? If it has the H55F in it, you can get replacement aftermarket gears (for the gearbox and transfer case) which are quite reasonable. You just need to know what size the idler shaft is (look at the back of the transfer case, in the middle between the rear output and the cap for the end of the main shaft) I think the sizes are 34mm and 38mm.
It is quite possible that the output gear on the gearbox mainshaft that drives the transfer case has worn the spline out inside it and on the mainshaft. Once again it is possible th get replacement gears, and you can get a gear that has extra spline on it so you dont have to replace the mainshaft also. (there is a spacer between the output gear and PTO gear that is taken out when using the extra spline gear)
do a search on the net, you will find lots of places that do aftermarket parts, or i am sure people on here will assist.
