dose anyone know how hard it is to fit a set of bucket seats into a 89 vitara?
i don't think you can buy anything, you will need to fab something up. i stole a pre fabbed one off polar_bear, it's a work of art!97BLZ wrote:yeah do you know of anything that can be made up or buy anything or just a matter or making somthing up suitable enough for it to line up to the other side.
that's cool peter, they were made for a set of recaro recliners, the seats have been removed. a 4 point CAMS spec cage has gone in & the seats will return with harnesses.droopypete wrote:Also Art, sorry to rain on your parade a bit, but (going by the pic) your seat belt is going to be fairly ineffectual with the high sides of that seat.
Peter.
Good to hear, it makes me cringe when people fit harness belts with no cross bar at shoulder height, but a cams spec cage will most certainly have one.atari4x4 wrote:that's cool peter, they were made for a set of recaro recliners, the seats have been removed. a 4 point CAMS spec cage has gone in & the seats will return with harnesses.droopypete wrote:Also Art, sorry to rain on your parade a bit, but (going by the pic) your seat belt is going to be fairly ineffectual with the high sides of that seat.

the frame that was made up is quite substantial & it replaces the whole vitara seat frame.
Yeah, it's been a while since your junk ran, I'll return the seat frame when you start bolting parts back on your vitara!Polar_Bear wrote:A bit more info on Ataris seat,
Due to the high sides on it, he had to slide the seat all the way back to get into it, then slide it alot forewards to reach the pedals and wheel (something about his ass being too big to fit between the steering wheel and seat, hence the poor seatbelt catch and lap/sash position.
I made those seat base frames to suit a pair or recaros ive got, but the mounting position of that momo seat looks a fair bit further back than a stock seat. Feel free to post up a pic of the seat base...i hear you've painted it now, i cant remember what it looks like
