4AG series transplant??

I have read numerous threads (not necessarily in this forum) about people transplanting various toyota 4AG series engines into their sierras. Im curious as to how they adapt a fwd gearbox to mate it to the sierra transfer case. I am aware that normally the gearbox is connected to the transfer case by a drive shaft and not directly but I fail to see how these fwd gearboxes are connected.
Anybody got any opinions on transplanting a nissan CA-18det or FJ20 turbo into a sierra. Just curious thats all.

Hold on bloody tight
both great motors but heavy for a zook. It would pull good wheelstands though.
4A-GE transplants

Stuee,
The 4A-GE transplant is made quite do-able by simply using the RWD gearbox out of a Sprinter!!
Apparently there are kits which fit the 4A-GE series motor as well (which I wish I had one of!!)

As Impulsive said use a RWD gearbox. There is no way you would get a FWD box in there without a lot of wasted time and money. There are only 2 boxes that will bolt straight up, the K50 from the AE71 corolla or the T50 found in the AE71 or AE86 Sprinter. I do however have an adapter plate to mount the T50 bellhousing to a W series gearbox. Just another option. There is a 4A conversion kit out there that supplies engine mounts, gearbox mount, jackshaft, radiator and some nuts and bolts.
As for the CA and FJ engines they are also do-able but seeing I have never attempted nor heard of them in a Zook I cant comment. I do know that the FJ is getting very old now and very hard to find which is a pity as they are an absolutely bullet proof engine. The CA18DET is another impressive little engine but I have seen quite a few fail. Transplanting one of these in would require all the same things to be done as for a 4A conversion. First I would measure the length of the CA engine and gearbox too see if it will fit in the zook first up.

and i think also the rod shop do a bell housing to run a hilux supra box behind the 4age if u dont want to go the ke70 box stc
if you want an auto use ke70 auto bolt strait up that way you can go the
86-894age sprinter 86kw @ 6600 136 nm @5000
corolla gti-sx 100kw @6800 147 nm @ 6000
import corolla 20valve 119 kw @7400 162 nm @5200
4agze (supercharged) import corolla 108 kw @ 6400 186 nm@ 4400
the eazy one to go would be the sprinter engine or early corolla dizzy comes out of the n/s/front off engine the late model corollas & imports are out the back hit fire wall

Stuee, where abouts in Perth are you.
A mate of mine has done four 4AGZE conversions and is looking at putting a 4AGE in a zuk soon.
You could come and have a look and he is always happy to help.
Cheers
