gq speedo sensor and speedo problem

Ive been building my patrol up over the past year and i have decided to get it registered. the previous owner had a dodgy mechanic put in a reco cutting and leaving wires hanging out every where.
Ive been trying to hook up the speedo but i cant find the wires coming out of the actual speedo on the dash.. ive looked every where and im not sure on what colors the wires from the speedo are or where exactly to look for these wires.. are the wires meant to go straight to the speedo or is there a male female plug half way through the line?
out of the speedo sensor is a green wire and a black wire.
any help please?
