Is anyone running JPC gear on their TD42

hey guys,

was wondering if anyone is running any of the JPC gear i.e Pump, turbo, injectors or head midifications.
i spoke with them today and it seems a little pricey (200rwkw), i have sifted through most of the threads about TD42 power upgrade and you guys havent spent anywhere near what they are quoting, plus most of the turbo "gurus" are telling me that in a comp truck i should be running a LARGE front A/A intercooler.
at the moment all i am running is a dts kit with a modified ebay a/a i/c, but i like the look and idea of the laminova kit.

any help fellas?
Cheers
Dez

I run a custom spec turbo from Mark on my GU, very happy.

After using another turbo company on a 100 series and not being happy JPC sorted the vehicle out to what I wanted. From past experience you may spend a little more intialy but it can also save.

JPC are very good, I would definitely go with their advice.

Mark aint cheap, but gets consistent results.

you want 200rwkw drive in drive out you will pay 10k quite easy....

What you like the look of and works well are two different things Air to Air work really well, not much things to go wrong with it's a simple effective setup, im not bagging the laminova kit however if your spending and wanting that power try and keep it as simple as possible as the pump has major mods, so do injectors, turbo aint standard either.

I havnt seen many high powered diesel running a Laminova kit, when i do and they have been around for a while maybe my opionion will change but i dont like water to air setups seen to many issues with them failing Air to Air is reliable.

But to answer question you will get the power but be prepared to pay for it. But saying that its so much fun to have that amount of power.

There isn't alot of 200Rw/Kw trucks out there and even less reliable ones.
If you're paying someone else to do the job then you'll spend 10k easily. No-one is going to want to cut corners on a job such as that.
JPC do a good job and the price is relevant to the quality.

Yes, i'd run A/A intercooler for a comp truck. Much less complicated and lower failure rate.

JPC know their stuff, have been doing big HP but reliable TD42's for a long time ...

why not go chev?

Still wonder why guys race with diesels?

They are heavy and need $$$ to get what an ls1 gets standard.
I bought my ls2 for $5000.

It seems almost all players start with big $$ diesels then go to v8's later.
Th td42 is based on a 40-50 year old buick truck motor from memory.

You could get 4k for yours and have a petty in for less than what you are talking turbowise.

Im running there pump, injectors, dts intercooler, turbo the lot.
Was on the car when i brought it so cant comment on the company at all but hasnt missed a beat yet got done when car had done 370,000 kms.
Its done over 420,000 now and no worries running 160kw from 180kw i got told.
Use car everyday aprox 110kms each day and get good econemy.

What Bru said, A td42 is a good daily/play motor and reliable but it you want to comp it or want outright speed go an LS series or similar, something other then a td42.

yeah i know JPC are good, my brother has alot of their gear on a VL commodore, i was just a bit shocked at the price of their diesel gear, and i have always been a fan of A/A intercooling, i was just trying to create more space in the front of my truck. As for the 200rwkw thats what JPC told me the set up would make, i would be happier with 160rwkw but are maily interested in the torque gain.

I just need to rework my budget to allow for the extra coin.

Bru21 is right tho, if you look at the Outback Challenge most of the vehicle are now running a chev in some variation, aaaarrrhh to many choices. maybe should sell out and take up needle point

I wouldnt say he is over priced and you know you will get results wit JPC.

You will strugle to find some one better to do a TD42.

Like i said before in need to sort my budget out, but i think i will probably go with some jpc gear, i didnt want to insinuate they were overpriced.
Pump $3200
Turbo $2200
Injectors $ 190ea

But i need to sort out the intercooling myself, bit far from his workshop.

you first need to figure out what you want in the end. in 2 secs, your talkin 200kw and 160kw.
Theres a big difference in price, big difference in engine life, and big differnce in intended use.

Then work out your budget, and stick with it.

Then go and see a few different places, and see what they offer. theres shit loads of options, doesnt take long to figure out who talks shit and who can provide results. Melb is lucky, we have 3-4 good diesel/turbo experts that ARE good.

I dont want 200rwkw, thats what JPC told me i could get from the set up i was quoted, when i askd about lower kw set ups, mark said there wasnt much difference in price as similar modifications to pump, turbo and injectors was required, i was also told the difference between 160kw and 200kw with JPC gear was boost and fuel settings, so for the money spent you can run at lower boosrt and fuel setting but have the room to boost it up if required of which i doubt.
160rwkw and 550nm of torque can make a pretty good off road truck and 200rwkw would probably destroy the engine i have just put time and money into.

I know mark can not be the cheapest but the best he is 2nd to none with mark you pay and you wait longer than you thought but once it is done and you walk a little funny for a bit but will tell you you will never be dissapointed in his work and if you have any questions he is always happy to help.....

in saying this i know him from a performance car angle and now i got the swb maverick he willl be turboing it 110% no questions.......

Well i listened to you gys and have ordered some gear from JPC
Feul pmp, turbo, injectors and a modified intercooler.
Got a better price cos i ordered all this at once.
Mark suggested that i put a radiator on tray and to use a BIG radiator from a izusu or hino truck, i got some work to do but it should be good.
