Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey guys, just went for a spin 5mins out the back of my new estate and whats the chance 8mm threaded rod about 100mm long straight into my 35inch bfg...
Can this be repaired and still be half decent and if so how much?? and tyre shop or 4wd shop??

Should be ok just take it to any local tyre shop should cost you about 10-20 bucks for a plug. I had a big ass bolt go through once and was able to plug it.

Is it in the tread or side wall? if side wall most will not fix it.

Yep if sidewall then it will have to go for a major repair if it's even repairable and likely to cost you upwards of $60 depending on who does it. If its in the tread, as far as I am aware it is illegal for tyre shops to just put a push in plug in it (you can though, buy a tyre repair kit). They will have to strip the tyre and plug/patch it from the inside. Just ring a local tyre shop to get an idea.

if its in the side wall truck tyre places fix them but there are illegal to use cant they can blow out. so uses it as a spare or on the rear only

yea i was just gessing it was in the tread. but yea as said tyre off rim and plug is the best and safest way but i have done it both ways and havnt had 1 blow out yet. If you do alot of 4x4 u can get a 4x4 plug kit from super cheap for bout 30 bucks.

you wont know til you go to repairer. Sidewalls are not repaired. (legaly)
You may need to tube it as well

Sidewalls CAN be repaired legally, so long as the cords haven't been severed, but it has to be a major repar where new rubber is vulcanised into the hole and a big patch is used on the inside, seen them fixed many times like that and never seen one blow out when done properly.

Bt as stated take it to the tyre shop and let them have a look at it and they can tell you if it is repairable or not. As for the tyre repair kits most of them consist of the push in cord plugs and are only a tempory fix and require proper patching at a later date, as beadless tyre should be patched from the inside

IN NSW Tried to have one repaired about 2 years ago and got noware.
flat refused cause of legals. 1 month old 7.50/16 dunlop clean hole is sidewall. Total flat refuse.
May be different in other states, some people may do the repaires
Just my experience was not convienent to put $230 for another new tyre.

Gooday, i had a side wall repair done recently and got a written guarantee for legality and warranty of the repair at a place in Brooklyn Vic. It cost $70.00 but cheaper than a newy. It was a truck repair facility.
