lol RD28 is direct bolt up, with shorter gearing.....no I'm not guessing, and have covered a bit about these boxes on here in the past.

GU RD28 bell housing is roughly 30mm longer then a GQ RD28.

All Nissan did to make the RD28T GQ box fit a GU was put a spacer in,

the RD28T and RB30 boxes are FS5R30A boxes according to both my GQ petrol and GQ Diesel user manuals

From what I remember the GU box has a longer casting, not a spacer. A bloke I used to work with had a damaged 2nd gear in hid GQ RD28 and bought a GU box by mistake (wrong markings on it at wreckers). There was no spacer and he had to get a box put togeter from different parts, navara, GU and GQ parts were used from memory. I'm pretty sure I measuerd a thicker flange on the 1 peice bell housing combined with gearbox.

The GU ZD30 does have a spacer plate to adapt to a TD/TB box though.

The Gu box has a spacer, about 30mm.. the box in totall is 30 mm longer, if you take the spacer of the shaft is longer as well, just been through this with mine.

Thats starting to ring a bell, I rember looking at turning the imput shaft back now. We didn't mod the inpot shaft as the wrecker came to the party with the other parts to fix the box.

Just a tought, has anyone looked a using a ZD30 spacer to a TD/TB box? I was looking at a navara ZD30 a few weeks back and it looks to be mated to a RD box. The Navara block needed 2 holed tapped higher up to suit the GU ZD30 adaptor plate. Might be an option for people with big hp RB's with gearbox relability issues.

the Navara ZD30 engine box isn't a RB gearbox its a totally different breed. and it won't fit an RB30 engine as ZD30 uses TB and TD engine bellhousing boltouts

Well that rules that one out.
