Yeah It`s the ute of Ebay later last year. And I`ve seen these posts. The best the seem to give is the kilowatts .But I took the ute finally for a run a couple of Sundays ago.It went like a cut cat, hence my interest in the motor specs. Was 1 gear higher than the Landcruiser 2 h powered beast that I own and it wanted to accelerate more going up hills. This motor was meant to have been rebuilt. Now I`m thinking if the 4bb1 and the 4be1 are near identical, maybe its a 4bb1 on the out side but mostly a 4be1 on the inside?Of course the only way to resolve the question is to put it on a dyno. But from what have read,4bb1=bit of a slug and how this motor goes some thing dosen`t add up.The ute dosen`t look quite the same any more from when it was on Ebay.

No. The original 3.6 is the 4BB1. Isuzu later built a revised version called the 4BE1 - which had a completely different bore and stroke, and more power than the 4BD1.

Looks even better than when you bought it!
Is it still NA? Does it smoke much?
The 4BE1 has a different bore and stroke, so I doubt it could have 4BE1 internals if it says 4BB1 on the side of the block.
Even without a turbo, it is possible to tweak the pump to get more go out of it. I tweaked the fuelling on my 4BD1 when it was still NA and it made a fair bit of difference.
None of my manuals cover the 4BB1, as it was only used until 1979 IRC. You may be best off trying to track down an ISUZU/bedford truck manual
e.g. for one of these:

It`s NA and it only smokes a bit on take of.Due I think mainly to the typical lag of mechanical fuel governors.Plant the foot more fuel than the motor needs until the revs match sort of thing.Good to hear it looks better than when I brought it.Had to fit the flares and legal bumper for a rwc.So spoilt my self and fitted a winch bar.Have got a Ramsey winch that I will fit soon.

So apart from being pedantic the 4BE1 IS 3.6 ltr .
