my reverse lights dont work on my vitara. well, havent worked for a while now.

where can i find the reverse light activation switch? is it on the shift lever? or in the gear box? i cant seem to find it.

wiring is intact, and globes are new.

i was also thinking while im at it, to mount two 55w lamps instead of the original reverse lights. or i could use the original lights with another low power spottie.

and also, has anyone istalled oil level, oil pressure, voltmeter, water temp gauges?

thanks for any help.
steve.

reverse switch is in the g-box, I got a 2nd hand g-box and put it in and the switch never worked, so I found out which switch it was by taking the clips apart and shorting them until the lights came on and then I brought a micro switch and tech screwed a bit of tin with the switch mounted on it under the gearstick boot. and bent it up so that when the stick was pushed over in reverse it turned the lights on.

I don't think you should upgrade your globes too much as the wiring may not take it, it may though its pretty big wire actually. I think you should just put a relay in the circuit and run appropriate cable and a massive lightforce spottie on the rear. but make sure it can only get turned on when in reverse or the cops could get upset. just don't tell them you have an overide switch so that when wankers get behind you with high beam blaring, you can fry their eyes out and watch them run off the road shortly after you turn it off. :lol:

P.S = I'm not an auto electrician
