Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey guys

Have drained the tran and want to know the procedure to fill it back up. Apparenty they aren't ment to be drained and run on the same oil till they blow up. It's out of a v8 4.7L 03 gxl model if that means anything.

or, you could just expect a short life for your auto.....

Some BMW's say no need to ever change the oil in the gbox

basically if you know how much come out put about the same back in or a little less. most auto are filled through the dipstick tube.then start car once oil has been put in. select drive then reverse. then put in park or netural with engine running hand brake on check oil level on dipstick. check oil level and top up if needed and repeat procedure until oil level is correct

Most don't have dip sticks either

Don't know about this particular box as I havent looked at one but if its anything like alot of later model autos it will have a fill plug at the bottom of the pan just like the drain plug. If this is the case it will have an internal tube running up from the pan to the fill level. Using the correct pumping equipment you pump the oil up the tube into the pan till it starts to drip down the tube in the same way you fill a manual box.

IS there two plugs on sump of the auto trans.

One will be drain and the other will be to refill it. from memory its quite a process of running and then checking it. id defiantly be getting my hands on a workshop manual for the procedure

What a PITA!! sounds like it would be easier to just convert it to a manual........

you sure can get a uzj100 with the manual in australia buddy

Ther eis a procedure you have to go through, which involves running at temp, with test mode on, and removing sump plug which has a level tube inside, so if overfull, oil comes out, if under full, none comes out.

You need the service manual to do the correct procedure.

The Toyota auto's use a "world" oil not meant to be chnaged, and only available in 4 lt tins from Toyota.

There is an aftermarket oil you can use, but we use genuine only, if having to change the oil when modifying these auto's.
