has anyone had a go at fitting a GU body to a GQ chassi, or know if it very hard to do, my GQ's body is rat shit so i was thinkin of an up grade, i understand if possible it will need to be engineered and all that

after doing all the measurements myself, looking into it, the GU and GQ share the same chassis mostly, the body mounts line up perfectly

the only thing that is different is the front where the bullbar bolts on, GU's have a bit more added to the chassis to attach their bullbars.

The other difference is the Diff's as the GU ones are wider. Putting a GU body on a GQ chassis will have the wheels further in the guards, doesn't look like it will cause any problems just look a bit different compared to a real GU :)

The other thing to consider is that the gear lever and transfer lever sit further back in a GU box & t/case (about 50mm) than a GQ so some modding of the shifter cover and maybe even the trans tunnel may need doing.

Hey guys dose anyone know if a GU Coil ute body will fit a GQ SWB chassis? and are the drivelines (engine, gearbox, diffs, susspension) interchangeable?
I have a GU with Serious rust in the chassis but excelent motor and drive line and a GQ SWB with a crap motor and half blown auto trans.

rear tail shaft is different between auto and manual box i believe but other than that yes.

only thing with doing this is it will still be classed as a gq.. because it goes off the chassis.

i put a maverick cab on a gq coil chassis and the car was then deemed a 88 model gq. when the cab was a 93 maverick cab. but any way i thought i would just mention that.

mines a LWB so the GU shell will fit a GQ chassis no worries

the GU Ute cab should fit a SWB Body as they have the same front and mid mounts
