I am not 100% upto scratch on the disco specs but I beleive the 2000 model have the CDL fitted but there is no activation cable/lever fitted.
You can climb under the vehicle and manually engage the unit with a 10or12mm spanner (double check the spanner sizing as I could be inccorect).
Then I beleive some 2001 and 2002 models have no CDL at all. In 2003 the CDL returned aswell as the activation lever. The 2003 (with the new front headlight design) is the model I would be looking at personally as it has many small improvements over the 02.
And as nottie mentioned they are not only more economical then a GU or 100series, they can be made to put down some good power figures.
Cheers

The TD5's have a problem with pumping oil up the injector lines and into the ECU..NOT SHIT it actually pumps it right into the ecu which of course F**Ks the ECU i worked on one with the problem and caught it in time just sat the ECU upside down for a day or two and let the oil drain out. all you have to do it make sure it has the new loom that goes onto the injectors under the tapet cover. If not..well its like 2500 for an ecu. cant beat a disco off road with all the wheel travel
