I would like peoples comments on the 80 gearing. I have just bought a turbo diesel 80, and i seem to find that the low range is just not low enough, and of course 5th isnt quite tall enough on the highway. I have only just bought it so it still only has 31s and I am still finding it doesnt seem to be as low as my bj midi and its running 35s. Id hate to think what it will be like when I go 35s on the 80. It just doesnt seem to have the down hill control, or the low gearing up hill like the midi has.
what are peoples opinions and experiances here.
Cheers

the turbo diesel 80s have a higher first gear ratio than the non turbo models. Also being a turboed engine it has a lower compression ratio too which means less effective compression braking on downhill runs. You just need to learn to use the brakes a little more on steep stuff.
If it is tuned and running well, it should climb no problems on 31's, I have 35s on mine and it will climb a brick wall. There is definitely times it would be good to have a lower crawl ratio though.
