arb compressor problems HELP!!

Post by tufflux88 »

gday i bought a cka12 compressor today for my lockers from arb.
problem is the little tank where the solenoids screw into wont turn like the manual says it does.
and cause it doesnt turn i cant screw the solenoids in.
ive tried taking the whole top assembly apart and putting it in the vice and twisting it but it doesnt bugde.
sorta looks like theyve put some sort of sealant on it as i can see some white liquid stuff.
the cap where the pressure switch goes turns but not the silver tank.

any help would be much appreciated
cheers

Are they open tomorrow? if so take it back. If it doesn't allow the rotation like it says it should, get them to either make it rotate or supply a new one. Tearing it apart is only going to potentially void any warranty it has.
But, it still shouldn't be like that I reckon.

just have everything else set up, wiring and locker lines ect. take the compressor back in the morning and they will sort it, it shouldn't be that hard they should just thread in. as PBBIZ2 said above either get them to show you how to do it or if its defective they will give you another one. then all you have to do is drop it in place connect up and ready to roll. saves voiding warranty and ending up with a rooted compressor u cant use at all. cheers, luke.

cant setup the wiring cause its in the same box as the compressor and theyll want the whole package i was told.
yeah i know how they go in but the canister needs to twist to allow the solenoids to be screwd in as they hit the piston head in the current position

Is it the larger CKMA12? If so then loosen not only the bolt in the tank but also the 2 small bolts that hold the bracket to the main body. Once that is all loose just give it a tab with the handle of a screwdriver and it should rotate. There is no sealant whatsoever as they use rubber rings.

took it to arb this morning and got them to have a look at it.
they pulled the whole head assembly off and had to hit the silver tank with a rubber mallet a few times while appying pressure.
he said that i just had a very tight fitting one.
all good now the solenoids are on and ts ready to go in.
thanks
