keep the tray, much stronger and more usefull.!!!!!! if you put a tub on it, you will be limited to what you carry to the width of the tub, but with a tray you cn take the sides off and carry something wider,
and if you do any amount of offroading you wil bend a tub very very easily, but a tray now there is a usefull pice of steel,
i have run my 73s tray into a tree backwards, accidentaly cause i didnt use the stall stop technique, and rolled backwayrds(very very dangerous) hit a tree with my tray, and i got not one iota of damage apart from the pins that keep the side un, bengine ever so slightly

take a look at my tread, it will give you an idea of a strong working tray, i plan to replace it with a more off road functional tray soon enough.....

Yeah i was only just recently tossing up the idea of a tub - all of my other utes have had trays (and i've been happy with them) I was also thinking of just building a steel tray frame and using the alloy deck off my alloy tray for the floor (save a little on weight). PITA not having tie rails at the moment.
Now a ute with a tub is becoming rarer, going for the 'different' look - although so far i've never seen a cruiser ute (45 or 75) with both extended chassis and spring over.....

So...... has that already got a chassis extension? Im a massive fan of all chassis extensions.. i drive a single cab GU patrol that is an extended chassis, six wheeler with a fiberglass pod behind the rear window. I would love a dual cab entended ute...
Id go a tub with that gull wing style box you have drawn up in that pic... just for something different.
