Hey all, I have a 86 dual cab lux, Im trying to figure out what kind of recovery points will work on the back. I did a search on this topic, I looked at over 60pages but got no answers.
At the moment I have hooks on the front.
I was thinking some big ass eyebolts bolted to the rear chassis rail would do the trick, and I was talking to some1 the other day, and he mentioned that the chassis rails at the rear(being a C shape), would most likely bend, so thats out.
So now Im thinking maybe get some more hooks and just bolt them on, maybe with some steel plate top and bottom of chassis as well, to help spread loading. But again, the chassis rail will most likely bend.
Im not running a towbar and have no plans on running one, I have an alloy tray and Im not going to be changing trays anytime soon.
Does anyone have any ideas/pics of what I could do??

the C channel at the back could have a crush tube and extra plating welded on, then the C channel boxed in to create a solid mounting point.
Otherwise, use the chassis rail that runs front to back rather than a crossmember - put crush tube in and run the hook or hoop sideways through the chassis rail - thats pretty much how mines done on the rear of my sierra, with plating either side of the chassis as well.

a comp truck i pulled down just had 2 hooks one bolted to the chassis rail on each side at the rear. seemed fine and wasnt bent.
still have the hooks and plates if you want them cheap.
but yeah the hayman reese set up which is a dime a dozen works well.

hey mate.
when i made my tray i got my boilermaker at work to weld a bit of rhs in between chasis rails 75x50x5-6mm i think, fits good. then weld in eyebolts im yet to brace it up but i pull my brothers patrol out with them all the time
if i done it again id make plates up and bolt it to chassis

And Im not towing anything, so a towbar is not needed.
What about this then - hooks on outside of Csection, with steel plate on inside of Csection all bolted together. Ill use plate that is longer than needed and bolt it through chassis as well.
Would that work ok??
