On the weekend i put a hole in one of my gq power steering hoses. No worries i thought, just rip it out and nip down to nissan a grab a newie.

Did I get a nasty shock! It just so happens that this bloody hose costs $250!!! Just for a hose :?:

Does anyone know of anywhere or have a power steering hose they dont want that joins the pump to the resevoir. (The big long one that goes under the radiator and joins to the side of the resevoir)

I'm in Melbourne

Thanks guys

Had to replace a ps pipe on my jag a few years back and discovered this cool place where they just made the hoses themselves. Cost me about $60; they used an unusual fitting from one end of the rooted pipe which helped.

Unfortunately it's in Geebung Queensland, and you aren't.

Still, I am mentioning it so you know that such places exist.

These things just use standard hydraulic threads etc, so there's absolutely no reason you need a Nissan one. Just look around for some hydraulic places.

Oh. And, pump to reservoir? Should be low pressure, so any way you patch it up yourself might work; worth a try anyway.

Thanks everbody, I'll give them a call tomorow, apparently it is a high pressure hose cos I was advised against cutting out the stuffed bit and fixing it with flexi pipe. Bayswater is just down the road too, awesome :)

I can't quite generatet the energy to go downstairs and check mine, but I would have thought that reservoir -> pump would be low pressure.

that is what I thought too but the hose is part metal, part braided hose so it appears high pressure also the nissan dude said it is high pressure. It joins to the resevoir with a 24mm bolt on the side.

hi rob ,the line from the pump to the steering box is high presure and would need to be fixed by pirtek ,the returne line is low presure this goes back to the reservior, this hose you should be able to fix yourself

ps hoses on td42 are pritty easy to replace, enzed have made them for me before, about $80. petrols are harder as hoses cross over the front. a dirty prick of a job. be careful of the return line filter in the pump as it can become blocked or restriced after hose replacment. this causes oil foaming and leaks out the filer cap. petrols have two high pressure hoses one at each end of the pipe make shore you get them both replaced :)

Enzed or any hydraulic hose place.

These types of things are a definite no no to get from Nissan $$$$$$$$$.
