Hi All,
I have a 89 live axle hilus that is fitted with a chev v6 and a Rv6 gearbox, I want to take this out and fit these up to a 96 IFS xtra cab hilux, I have discovered that the sump needs modifying so does the headers, work that is beyond my capabilities.
Could someone recomend a mechanic, even a backyard mechanic that I can take the cars to and have the conversion done, a hilux guru?
Any help is much appreciated!

hi again, thanks for the replies, i'm in melb, it is a carby chev, however I am not too concerned about the legalities of it, i plan to soon replace the v6 with a 350 chev

If you plan to change the motor later to a 350 I wouldn't waste the money on the V6 conversion put that towards the 350 conversion otherwise you end up doing things twice and wasting money

But how much is it going to cost to get someone to put that motor and box in the other one?
If it was me, and this is just my opinion, I'd try and the 2k back by selling the other one and use the money that was going to pay for the conversion to get the 350 in. I learnt the hard way of, do it right do it once.
Point is, why waste the money on getting the V6 in if you are just going to pull it out again and put a completely different motor in it when you could do just 1 conversion and put the the motor you really want in it. End of the day it's your decision but think carefully before you throw money at it that you may not have to

to my knowledge the mounts etc are the same for the v6 and the 350, i will get the 2k back from selling the lux with the 2.4 in it, the conversion motor box are fre, the only cost is the fitting
