I own a 1997 Pajero NL Shorty. I'll be installing some aftermarket rear springs soon. I've found that most spring pairs on the market (not all) had a different uncompressed length between left and right (varies by around 10mm). I've read reports on the internet that the longer spring is intended to be installed on the side of the road which is normally lower due to the road camber (crown), i.e. the passenger side. This does seem to make sense, as it would compensate somewhat for the road surface being lower for the passenger side than the driver side.
However on speaking to a rep from King Springs, I was told that the longer spring should be installed on the driver side. He also told me that this reflected the original springs. I could also see that the Ironman spring for my vehicle that is the longer of the two is marked D/S.
