GQ rear coil retainers

Post by Screwy »

Guys,

Been playing around with my GQ shorty ( know MQs far better hense the question )...

When flexed up the rear drivers coil allways comes away which is to be expected with the travel this thing has but when the coil sits back down on the diff it doesnt sit back down on the mount square...

Is this a common problem ppl just solve with a coil retainer?

Im assuming the reason this happens is from factory they have shorter shocks and swaybars that limit the travel?

Or am i looking at a bush or similar that is worn causing this?

Yep it requires a retainer to fix. I retained the bottom with metal strap through the bottom of the spring and around the mount itself (to basically secure the spring to the diff) and use dropout cones at the top.
Good luck sorting out that car, its a freak of a vehicle

Yeh i figured it was a case of doing that.....

Just checking that someone else hasnt found another reason for it.

Yeh the truck is going really well just had to fix a few things up and time to start buying some shit for it i think, had it 12 months and have hardly had to touch it other then a rear centre and a turbo water hose.....
