tb42 gq patrol. what motor for conversion

Post by YN67highlux »

ok. my brother needs some opinions on what motor upgrades he can do or should he just do a conversion. hes thinking about a 4ltr efi ford motor? he wants more power and relibility
need to know how good these motors (tb42) are and weather it would handle a small turbo as he is planing on doin a bit of touring in the future, it has 280000ks on the clock, be budgeting about 5k...
is there any bolt in motors that will have more power without adapter kits?
any help would be appreciated.

righto thanks stool. just need to know if its worth rebuilding and how many ks would you expect out of this motor? i know a few mates that are into drag cars so i can get turbos done pretty cheap..would it handle a turbo as is? how much does a conversion cost for something with a bit more power and relibility? open to any sugestions.... hes pretty negotible with cost as he is young and stupid

Is it carb or EFI tb42 , maybe just freshen it up and inject it. Turbo will cost more than 5 to do properly and won't make for a friendly tourer , especially for your wallet .
There is one in the driveline section for sale 1100 with loom and ecu only got 180k on it
Nup not telling
you'll have to find out yourself
