Anybody done a TB48 Conversion into a GQ? how hard would it be to get the wiring correct, what sort of coin would i be looking at to get it done by a mechanic etc?
Sorry for hijack but curious. Why not use the 5speed auto? Just becuase it's electronic I assume and a pain to retro fit unless using everything as you stated.AFeral wrote:If your putting in a tb 48 with the 5 speed auto sh#t loads of electrical work. You need the ecu, gearbox controller ,dash and the ignition barrel. these are all linked with a bus system so you need them all for the engine to work. If you are going manual the tb48 will bolt up to a tb42 gearbox, would recommend a good clutch. The ecu will require a signal from the ignition barrel, so you will need one of those too.
Myself I went an autronics ecu, will be selling my 5 speed auto and going either a 4 speed auto or a manual. Have a look at my buld thread if you like theres a bit of info there.
You pretty much answer your own question. Just to much of a pain to fit all the gubbin and gobbins to make the engine and auto work using standard nissan bits. I would have either had to retro fit the gu dash and ignition barrel. Or hide them somewhere. Then pay an auto elec to wire the whole thing up for another $1000. If after all that, if I mod the engine then I would have to change to an after market system anyway. I have yet to find a manulising kit for the 5 speed. The five speed can be built stronger and manulised for about $4000 apartly good for 240kw. Where as the same thing can be done to the 4 speed and its good for 440kw maybe more.BowTieGQ wrote:Sorry for hijack but curious. Why not use the 5speed auto?
