I would say yes, as long as you set it up with bumpstops to suit. They wont rub on road, only offroad.
37" tyres have been used on 80s with only 3"lift and bumpstops modified to suit.
I run 35's with 4" lift and std bumpstops and accasionly get a little rubbing when flexed up a lot

i'd have thought that 35's would scrub, my cruisers got a 5 inch lift and the wheels tuck into the guards and drop about 1.5 meters (on the rear anyway). But their only standard 31's.
I'd have thought 35;s being 2 inches taller from hub would have scrubbed as i only got about an inch / inch and a half of room left inside guard.
Sorry if the size is too large but am new at uploading photos, this is mine with 31's at full flex

Im running 35x10.5x16 Simex Extremes and have no scrubbing but they were half worn when i put them on,so i would say you may get alittle scrubbing when new.I think the 10.5 is the trick as im sure 12.5 would scrub pretty bad on mine.Ive got 3inc spring lift and standard bumstops.

I run 35 x 12.5 x 15 MTR's with a 2 inch lift and 30mm coil spacers and they only just touch on the rear, but on the front they rub when flexed up, and bind my steering.
I'm looking at putting in a 4 inch lift, and extended bump stops .
