Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi nooby here,I have a water leak at rear of engine (G13ba) & it appears to be coming from the bell housing!Is there a welch plug at the back of the block,and if so is it able to be got at with the gearbox removed?
Any help would be appreciated.If this subject has been covered in a previous post I apologise as I am pretty new to this forum.

there are many hoses around there, check all are connected properly and in good nic. u need to find out exactly where from before u can go any further. follow the leak from the bottom up until u find it.

I reckon it'd be your heater hoses as they sit right above the bellhousing. I just replaced mine cost me a total of $10 for the hose.

Thanks for the reply.I have replaced the metal engine pipe & O ring,the water pump,top & bottom radiator hose,thermostat & radiator cap & the manifold gasket.The heater hoses appear to be intact & not leaking & as the water appears to be coming from OUT of the bellhousing,I thought of a possible welch plug.Is there one at the back of the block?
How difficult is it to remove the gearbox on ones own?

the gearbox is not easy when byyourself and lying on the ground coz its heavy and aukward but still doable with a bit a pushing around. u might need to put the jack under the engine sump and give it a couple pumps to lift the engine slightly to get the gearbox out. not to high so u break the engine mounts.

im not sure if a welsh plug exists or not.

is it possible u have a cracked engine block?

Just went and checked my spare block and there is no copper style welsh block at the back. There is a sump style plug that screws in but i'm not sure if it is on the water or oil side of things. Going by the little bit of corrosion on mine i'd guess it is water but someone with easy access to a manual would be better to ask.

UNless you are someway limited in strength the gear box removal\refit is not to hard, the gear box is pretty light and there is enough room to work.
You may need to clearance the rear crossmember a little though, by taking about half a centimeter off it. SOunds silly but can make the difference between mucking about for hours and over and done in 20 to 30 minutes (once you know what your doing)

there is no need to remove your gear box.
it will be a hose fo sho.
check your radiator level
