Exhaust size for MTQ turbo on 1HZ Tojo

Picked up a Turbo kit for a 1HZ Tojo.(MTQ)
i currently has extractors and an upgraded exhaust system but i dont no if it will suit the turbo kit.
it also has a pipe from the turbo housing which has a treaded fitting in it for a EGT (i think) but it is about 300mm from the turbo.
Is that too far away for a EGT probe??
Grant.

3" exhaust is about the ideal and closer to the turbo the better for the temp probe. Most are usually 2-3" from the turbo outlet.

#" exhaust suits them well. your extractors wont be any use, you may be able to use the existing exhaust with a new peice to link the dump pipe to the exhaust after the extractors.
I would blank off the threaded hole and fit an EGT probe in the exhaust manifold BEFORE the turbo. it is widely regarded as giving a more accurate reading of what ids happening in the engine. Keeping EGTs at safe levels is very important in the 1HZ

Is it ok to drill into the cast manifold and weld in the steel tread boss that comes in the gauge kit ??

Drill an tap the hole to the right thread for the probe. There is no need to weld to the manifold.

Check the compression fitting your EGT probe sometimes comes with. Some of them are NPT (american) threads and IMO best thrown away. You'll want either 1/8" or 1/4" BSPT compression fitting, BSPT is also called G (gas) thread.
