head unit

have a 1000w amp and 1500 w sub and a old kenwood head unit when turned up to over 20volume the sub cuts in and out would this be a stuffed head unit?

2 reasons. Amp overload or not enough power to the amp(bigger wiring)

yer i dont think so because the wring is for 1000w amp and i had it in my old car worked fine but ths car its dodgey maybe a connections dirty or somethin

i would say its bad earth to your amp or head unit

just try scraping the paint off or earthing it some were else and check your remote wire to make sure its connected probaly

So how far up the dial is "20" - is that near max, or somewhere lower? I mean, Spinal Tap had amps which went to 11 - are we talking the same scale?

Do you have a capacitor on the amp input?

My first guess is that the power supply is dropping too low at volume, so the amp is shutting down.

Or not.

yer sub cuts out at 19 then only speakers work im thinking theres only 6 volt getting to the amp and im also thinking my dual battery set up is rooted how do u test if a dual bat solinoid is working properly?
