diff ratio query

G'day all,

As you all know I have stuffed my rear diff, I have maxi 4.11 diff ratio's, now the front is okay and I have a 4.1 diff from a rover car sitting in the shed, it has 10 teeth on pinion and 41 on CW, not sure what the count is on the maxi 4.11's.

my question is, would running the rover 4.1 in the rear to get my truck drivable for the next couple of weeks while I fix my other diff centre going to cause major problems due to .01 ?? it sounds like very little but I don't want a stuffed Transfer case as well !!!

In my opinion, here will be no issues at all...jst go offroad once a day and spin the tires to unwind (or drive in reverse).

There's probably enough slack in the Rover drivetrain to make sure that descrepincies such as these are welcome :finger:

Rover cars never had 4.1 ratios, only 4.88 (Very early) 4.3,(10:43) 3.9(10:39) and 3.54,(13:46) so if yours is not a Maxi then it is probably another aftermarket one, probably from Four Wheel Drives in Blackburn Melb. Anyway the small percentage difference will have no effect. Afew years ago I ran my vehicle with a modified Transit van diff in back(4.625:1) and a modified Salisbury 4.7:1 in front will no problems and less wind up than when I had identical ratios in both ends.

Are the Rover car R&P's a straight swap to our centres? Is it worth it [strengthwise]?

The rover car R&P's of the same ratio as a genuine RR or LR will be the same strength. A taller (numerically lower) ratio will of course be stronger. The heavy duty Maxi Drive (or are they GBR) R&P's that DAS has should be stronger than the stock rover car or LR CW&P's.
