Fuel economy question

Hey guys

Just wondering what kind of fuel economy i would be looking at getting doing around 2hrs highway driving?

Looking at a soft tob body for my hightop or a 60 series cruiser.

I live on southside brisbane and would be looking at going to glasshouse, bellthorpe and most likely into NSW to levuka. How much fuel would my sierra be using? Ive asked the same thing about the cruisers and want to know which one is going to run more economical? As i have been told the sierras use a fair bit highway driving?

Thanks
Brad

I have had a look on google and have found some results around the 8L/100km. I would assume that is for stock sierras? And maybe not on highway?

I get around 8-9L-100km in my hightop drover and use it extensively on the open road. I used to have a softtop and it never got close to that fuel economy and couldn't get the same top speed even with the exact same rebuilt motor (original drover one sh@t itself as the previous owner did a shonky rebuild). Also softy's are way noisier and drafty making the trip almost unbearable mainly because down here it is always cold and wet down here. I can easily sit on 110kmh with stock everything and have wound it off the speedo but I didn't say that ;) I'd say a 60 would be about as uncomfy as the zook and use more fuel and be a less capable rig for the more extreme tracks.

ok sweet well im not getting the 60 haha.

im looking at ditching the hightop for a soft top cuz i prefer the look.

what kind of fuel economy did your soft top get? would a normal hardtop get the same as a hightop? and are you running bigger tyres?

I ran stock, 235/75R15 and 235/85R16 tyres on the softy and I got pretty progressively worse with each size upgrade. Now it doesn't matter about fuel economy as it is my offroad only toy. Softy's are great but don't bother with a wireless as you can't hear it at speed nor the passengers and you get wet. On another note Hightops are automatically cooler as they have twin sunroofs

I have run around in a soft top a bit, had a friend redo it a few years ago and had it quilted (insulated on inside) At the time it made a world of difference .. reduced the flapping\drumming and certainly made the inside of the vehicle alot quieter.

As for economy .. 1.3 on 235/75s was 9-10 Liters per 100 (usually sitting on 110)
1.6 SPOA and 32 BFG MT's 11-12 per 100
1.6 SPOA 33 swampers 16ish per 100 (really didnt pay that much attention once it go to that state)
