it only looks like you get more flex your spring still have the same as a SUA

as nat84 said, as long as you're running the same leaves, your flex stays the same. but you'd be about 6inches higher, with the same narrow 40series width. i think people who do spring over try to get as flatter leaves as possible, thats how they're gettin more flex, coupled with longer shocks

what do you want to do with the vehicle? You can get heaps of flex staying SPUA.

This is my old car

nice flex, well may be i just liked the look of the guys that had a flipped spring may be i dont need it? i defantly dont want 6" lift may be 3" would be sweet tho.. another thing the shocks are stock ha ha so there 30 years old... XD is that why the ride is bumy or is it because it is on leaf springs?

i think it just comes down to what you use your rig for

problem with a fj40 is usually the billion leaves they had stock.

flatter springs will work better. but then you will need a track/ladder bar at the rear to prevent major dramas.
if you go SPOA you get lift and the chance to flex more.
but you also start needing to extend brake lines.-potentially.
rotating your front diff to keep the steering close to stock..

just a big can of worms.

but they look sweet SPOA...

i think i am going to have a crack at it< so i have to get the springs flatended out new shocks new brake lines new speedo cable and maybe ajust the steering?

again the smae question before my 40 is a bumpy ride at the moment, is this because of the old shocks or is that just leafs for you?

thanks for all your ideas and pictures great help

If you're still in QLD and plan to drive it on the road, a spring over is highly illegal. If it's a trailer rig only, go for it.

ok... so if i am all out of luck there. what about....
if i re-tention my springs?will that give me may be 2" lift witch wont draw to much attention to the truck?

QLd laws are bloody stupid, i vote that all 4x4 should be able to have what ever crazy mods they can think up

Lots of info in my build thread and in the toyota landcruiser bible ... specifically the thread about 60series springs on the 40..

You will definatley get noticed with a spring over. I reckon it would be defected within a month if you drove it reguarly.

Like shorty_f0rty said you can get get good flex and about 3" of lift with a bit of work SUA. What year is yours? Try some searching, plenty of threads on this.

This is mine. Pretty much the same setup as shorty_f0rty.

As others have mentioned above, definetley dont go SPOA in QLD. Your way better off setting it up sprung under, and if done right you'll get just as much travel with a lot more stability.......Mines done using custom leaf packs from Dobinsons Springs in Rocky with relocated spring hangers, custom shock mounts, 12" travel bilsteins, and 2" extended shackles. Rides greats, sets lowish (bout 4" lift), and flex's awesome.

Ride height on 33s.
