converson problem

Okay so Ive been doing the 1.6 efi conversion and i decided to go with the vitara fuel tank for ease of the conversion i made up the new mounts and got it all mounted up and put it on the ground then realised that the front bracket hits the back of the diff (the tank is as far back and high as i could get it) any ideas

I have an efi swb vitara tank in my zook...diff is far from hitting anything.

Are you using a SWB or LWB gaytara tank?

easier to just use a carby style lift pump feeding a efi pump. The lift pump has the ability to suck fuel where the efi pump does not.
Ive been running mine as a daily now with no probs using this setup with the stock tank.

sorry it took so long here are some pics
i have moved the part in question to the bottom of the bracket in an effort to get it out of the way
from below you can see how much it hits by and it sits about and inch and half below the tank bracket, i was thinking of cutting the hand brake cable bracket off and rewelding a bit further forward

Are you able to retro fit a n/t handbrake on the transfer case ( I know it can be done but don't know if its legal there ) and ditch the hilux handbrake ?

could you add a bumpstop spacer perhaps to keep it out of the tank ..

yeah thats a thought i dont have any suspension lift, so a lift and bump stop spacers could work, or dose any one have a spare transfer case hand brake

cut the floor out of the car and raise the tank.
not a quick and easy solution, but it will give you the clearance that you are after.

How much does it hit bye , I pressed my tank to clear my top knuckle on my A frame , tank went in about 2 inchs , Cheers Paul.

it dose not hit by much i think it will pretty much will only hit the bracket so i might have to give the truck a bit of a flex and see exactly where it hits

if it was me and it looked like it was only just hitting than i would just let the diff do the clearencing for you.
but idealy find out what is hitting and raise the tank more. when i had a vit tank in my car i had 2" B/L, and still had to hammer the floor up as well as remove or relocate some of the pipes from the top of the tank. but it was a good fit when done

will the vitara tank fit in a swb without body lift as i dont plan to body lift mine and i need to do something about a proper setup as mine has bin runnin just the vl fuel pump to the stock sierra tank and i cant go more then half a tank. also will the fuel sender work on the stock gauge.

Chuck a lift pump on it before the VL and then the VL pump will last longer and u will be able to empty the tank.

yeah my stock fuel gauge works with the vitara tank i just haven't driven it around enough to work out if it is accurate, and from the pics i posted you can see how much it hangs down by but i don't think Ive lost any ground clearance any way

o ok, i gotta pull the sender out of my sierra and replace it. cause im pretty sure thats where my prob is
