im doing an engine rebuild and found the carby was cracked.
im not too sure if you can weld or braze it?
would quicksteel do the job or should i just get a new carby?
cheers

nah i have none at the moment sorry.
its cracked because 1 of the 4 mounting bolts were done up to tight.
its cracked all the way through but there is a small piece holding it on.
when the carby is bolted down it has a small amount of play.i was more worried about the air leak.

Possible to weld it but it'd be near on impossible to braze unless it is a special non aluminium carby. Maybe time to upgrade to a bigger one

im rebuilding it for a bloke he just wants the standard carby.i suggested a holley or webber conversion but he says he doesnt want to pay $400 + and have the hassle of tuning it all the time or somethin?
hopefully it will be as simple as welding it up.
ill have a crack at it and if it still leaks ill have to get another.
cheers

Should be able to get a standard carby for about $40 at a wrecker that's the price I paid last time anyways.
