gear reductions

I know of the rockhopper 120% reduction sets, but what other gearing options do i have available?
2nd xfer, serria unit maybe?
the vit already has 5.125 r&p, so that is out of the question
your thoughts please

Is the 120% you speak of the vit hopper??
I'd look at a sierra gearbox and tcase (don't know how doable it would be though)

The auto compensates reasonably well for the 33's but but it can get a little exciting down wet, muddy hills. As for reductions, the lower t-case gears are the nicest, simplest way to go but as you have mentioned you could do a twin t-case with a Sierra case behind but with a 1.4 reduction in high but you'd really want to be running 35's, same as if you just chopped of the Vit t-case and replaced it with a Sierra one. The other option is a Lada Niva t-case which would give a 1.2 high ratio and a 2.135 low but you'd be looking at constant 4wd with a centre diff lock. The Vits tend to have leaking seals when their front turns all the time so it would be better for a SAS but then if you did that you could and would look at bigger rubber like 35's so back to the Sierra case for the gearing in high and options of Rockhoppers as well. If you're not going too far with it then put in the rockhoppers for the least hassle especially if it's a daily driver. Look at the Calmini 4.24 or the Rocky Road 4.4.

Either substituting Seirra gearbox and tcase or a Sierra transfer case as a dual behind the Vitara one is doable, but will be way too short (remember high range will be
41% shorter so anything under 35"s it won't be too good.......
You might get away with it if you use 4.6 R&P's.
You can be the first to test out the Niva transfer case option... 1.20:1 high is perfect for 31"s so get out there and start cutting
Other than that it's rockhoppers... while the Vitara rockhopper is still stupidly expensive ($1694) there are also some US ones available.
Remember a 4:1 Vitara rockhopper works out about the same as a 6:1 Sierra rockhopper due to the diff ratios in the Vitara, so maybe you can justify the extra cost that way
