GQ alternater

i have td 42 and the alt has a small tube that comes out of the top rear and occasionly engine oil comes out of it when i turn the engine off, have been told this is supposed to have a hose on it that runs to somewhere on the manifold? can anyone help? cheers!

Its your vacuum pump, it has a main line that runs over to a black canister then along the back of the engine bay to your brake and clutch master slave cylinders.

A picture would probably help, but at a guess this is what im assuming your are talking about.

If it's only a thin line then it's likely a vacuum feed that's meant to go to a vacuum solenoid on the drivers side, standard this feeds an an actuater on the injector pump for raising the revs at idle if the a/c is turned on. I don't have an actuater so i just crimped the end of the short piece of pipe and soldered it shut.
