Anyone tried this, if so do they go straight on?
Thinking an 80 rear disc/hub/etc will space the rear wheels out a few inches due to the flange position on the hub being further towards the axle end.

It wont fit unless you have the late disc brake rear 75 housing and if thats the case it will already have disc's. The spindles on the rear housings are completely different between disc and drum, ie spacing, bolt pattern etc

i think you can fit the front hubs to the rear to widen it, but it only gets you about 15mm a side.

You can't just modify the brake backing plate mounting surface to fit, the mounting flange is also farther to the middle from the spindle tips in the disk brake axle. I don't know about the 80 axle, but in the 75 axle the difference in the distance from the flange to the spindle tip is about 15mm between the drum and the disc versions.

Ok, to add a little bit of info, the rear 75 diff in question is a disc brake one, but it has been noticed that the hub on the 80 only sticks 2 inches past the centre of the wheel when mounted up, where the 75 hubs stick out 4 or so inches past the wheel. If the 80 hubs fit on the 75, the track should be 2 inches further appart.

this is what i am talking about, same as ifs hubs on a hilux

If the relationship of the brake backing plate mounting flange and the spindle isn't any different in the 80 (as the backing plate and the parking brake components are identical) your plan may work. The 80 brake rotors are deeper than the 75 by 35 mm, maybe to compensate for the location of the wheel mounting flange on the 80 hub.

BTW, Nick, you don't mean the IFS Hilux front hub would fit in the rear axle, do you? Front hubs are shorter than rear hubs.

80 hubs, disc's, calipers, backing plate and handbrake set will bolt straight up to the late disc brake rear housing and give you 35mm more track per side.
