Rock slider mounts to chassis

I'm currently making some sliders for my 105 and want some ideas for mounting to the chassis.

The arms leading to the chassis will be 2x2" RHS 5mm thick.

What is the best way to attatch to chassis?

Ideas so far are to sandwich chassis between two plates using 2 or 4 high tensile bolts per mount. Or a plate clamped to the chassis using a u-bolt with 90* edges (square u-bolt?) similar to how the arb steps mount.

Another idea is having a u shaped plate which slots up onto the chassis. This is pretty common. Are these U plates 3 seperate plates welded together, or are they 1 plate bent into shape?
Are these U plates just clamped into position using a single bolt above the chassis rail?

I've made them wither as 3 welded together or as RHS with one side cut off. Unless you have ready access to a brake that can handle 5mm+, I would imagine either would be easier.

Yep. For a 105 I would be looking at having at least 3 chassis attachment points.



Just as another idea, Macquarie 4x4 in Sydney attach their sliders by welding a square piece of c-section to the chassis, tapping 4 holes in it and bolting their sliders to that. Depending on your engineer, this might be another alternative. Personally, I'd just go the square u-bolt style if welding them on is not an option.

this is how i did the ones on my 80, a clamp for the rear and i used the g box mount for the front one..
