Just looking at one for my parents to drive around and tow a small caravan with.
Ive only ever heard good things about them.
Anything to look out for??
Will be getting an auto, so do they over heat with towing or anything?
Thanks!

Mate, I'm just about to buy my brother-in-laws prado matching your description (except it is manual and a rv model) and have had a good long borrow of it to work out what it is like. This is what I thought of it:
1kzte- decent engine, highway driving and around town it did what it needed to. It won't blow your hair back but you won't feel like trading it for a petrol anytime soon. Don't bother revving it stupid- just makes a lot of noise and not much else. It makes its maximum torque at 2000 rpm.
economy- around 12-13 litres per hundred K's mixed driving. Long range fuel tank is great if yours has one fitted. Fuel figure was on a basically stock vehicle and I gave it a pretty hard time. Go easier and you'd probably get it closer to 10-11 litres per hundred.
reliability- previous owners have never had a problem and it's done 195000ks but they have also looked after it . BTW they are buying a new prado so I think that says something.
drivability (if that's a word)- pretty good. Comfortable enough. A shite load better than driving my last NA diesel. Interior is pretty basic compared with today's vehicles but the seats are comfortable and they have everything you really need. They are pretty tall vehicles so they do have a fair bit of body roll but apart from that not a lot different to driving a large family car (obviously slower in most cases).
I'm buying it because as far as sub $20K 2nd hand tourer goes, there is not much else that tops it. They are 10 years old or younger, comfortable, fairly cheap on fuel, reliable, decent amount of room and will take you most places that a tourer wants to go. They do have weakness such as IFS,gearboxes can suffer if abused and in some rare cases head issues but, find a well looked after example and keep looking after it and you should have no problems.
Cheers,
Gee.
