T3/T4 turbo for 1hz?

hey all

Im looking at buying a turbo kit for my 80 series 1hz, this kit has a T3/T4 turbo with a intercooler and all the kit stuff. Will this be fine for my 1hz.

Here are turbo details,

(1) Hybrid Turbo Charger:
.57 compressor wheel trim mapped for low and high boost setups
Oil fitting gaskets & mounting studs included
Capable of producing over 450 horsepower
Wet float bearings & properly balanced
3" inlet diameter with a 2" outlet
50 A/R compressor housing
.63 A/R turbine housing
1/8 NPT oil inlet
T3/T4 hybrid

How much is it, what brand is it.

What boost's will you be running

What are your power goals

Post a pic of the flow chart.

If you've got the money buy a ball bearing one, it will spool as fast as a smaller thrust bearing turbo.

hey,

Im looking at running about 10psi i got no idea what sort of power gain that will give me hoping around 140kw but not sure it will get there.

I do not have a power chart do you think this will work.

Yes it will work. 1hz has large cc's and high compression. It may not be as responsive as standard, but it wont be a lagged monster that is useless.

Is the kit brand new from a shop or similar?, if so theyll have a flowchart for the turbo, get it off them, a quick look will tell us, at the end of the day the turbo may not be "optimum" but will suit it good enough.

Sounds very big to me.

2L Turbo car, 16 valve = 90% intake eff, 8000RPM

4.2L Diesel - 8 valve = 80% intake eff, 4000RPM

About the same flow rates, little less to diesel.
Compression is irrelevent

If a 4.2 petrol with a static comp of 10:1 and you add a turbo for arguments sake, and you increase "effective" compression to 20:1 with boost, effectively flowing more air....

If a 4.2 diesel has a static compression of 20:1, is this not the equivalent air flow of the 10:1 with boost to bring comp to 20:1.

More compression, more air compressed, more air to spool a turbo up, how is it irrelevant

For the most part, a supercharged motor with the same effective compression as a (similar) normally aspirated motor with the same static compression should have about the same overall power...............

Obviously you know what your talking about, i have always thought and had good reason to believe the above.....

As the other guys said - get the flow curves if you can, then we cna explain it.

yeh this turbo is brand new, ill email them see if i can get a flow chart but for 450 bucks all up is a pettey good deal considdering some of the kits in aus are 3 grand plus and this comes with intercooler as well.
