Hi bud.
I doubt you will get any info from here unless you own a patrol, so here is a link that will give you the info you need on your d40.

there are a few ways you can do this and the results are vastly different.

I've seen one kit that pretty much is just a 2" lift with 1" spacers, not great for CV's etc but a heap cheaper than doing it properly.

Superior do a kit now I'm pretty sure, wizard performance do one, so does macquarie 4x4. They're all in QLD but I'm sure there are other companies that do the proper kits that lower the diff and put in new arms etc.

But if you're going to spend the money, you might as well get a decent lift out of it. I had a good look at a D40 with a 4" and it had awesome clearance for a navara, had as much room under it as my GQ (2" lift) and he was running 33"s no worries.

Check out the companies I mentioned above and look through their websites to see the kits I'm talking about. However be prepared to pay for it if you want to do it properly. And think carefully about whether it's worth spending all that money to get that little bit higher than the normal 2" lift you can fit easily and for a lot less money.

Really you're only improving ramp over as approach and departure can be improved with a decent front and rear bar or removing your style side tray.

Food for thought.

The 3" kit with spacers and ext shackles was sold by a TJM, sure it was higher but had next to no wheel travel, handled like a piece of crap and he'd broken front left CV first time off road.
