Outer Limits 4x4 Board

ok, tried searching but didnt have much luck (not to say there is nothing there though)...
in the next week or so i will be buying an arb air locker for the front of my gq...now, im not a genious at working on cars but im more than willing to get in and have a crack at almost anything...so i was wondering how hard is it to install a locker?? am i better off just paying the extra couple hundred and getting it installed by someone in the know??
if someone has any links on here (or anywhere else) please feel free to post them up for me to have a look

it would be easier to take to a diff& gaerbox shop and have it installed properly, cause if you don't get the preload right you will blow ur diff before u get to use it. that & u should get some sort of warranty if u have it done professionally


thats my opinion

Specialist equipment required to measure pre load and backlash of diff . Pay someone to do it , it's cheaper than repairing a stuffed ring and pinion set.

dont have all the gear unfortunately :( and also will be a little limited for time as well to be honest...unfortunately the new job is taking up to much of my time

Yeah it's not that hard, me and a mate have done about 8 of them already.

BUT! We have done "normal" diffs before so we know how to set up backlash and have the gear to do it.

If you have to buy the tools plus other bits (Drillbit, tap, loctite, socket for pinion nut, dial indicator.......) it's not worth it. These bits will easily cost you $200......

Bottom line, if it's the first time, get it done somewhere, practise on a open diff/lsd first if you want to have a go.
See for yourself if you're confident enough then.
