Fuel pump

Went out for first run today, and was all good, just running some easy stuff getting used to the feel of everything. When pop, no more fuel in engine, listen for a second, yep fuel pump isn't running. So a look around underneath, lying in mud, much to my missus amusement, and find up near the engine bay that the power wire has come loose. PLug there on the end of it, but call me an idiot, can not find where it is supposed to plug into, anywhere in reach of the wire. :? Any way hard wired it in to the second bty to get me home, but where is this connection??. 78 RR

Second question, anyone run a lead replacement in there, 3.5's ?? Does it make any difference, would you recomend it.

On my 84 rangie, a 2 wire lead runs from the harness at firewall to the fuel pump. There is a connector in this lead above the bell housing that you can't reach without dropping the gearbox or removing the lead from the pump forward.

Thanks bush65 I've looked in that area can't seem to find anything. Anyone know if what bush65 said applies to 78's??
