Extending hilux bumpstops

Hello all,

Before you say it I searched, which revelaed sfa.

I have put some new springsin the lux with some longer rs5000's. As the shocks are a fair bit longer I now need to extend the front bumps about 60mm and the rears around the same.

Now the question is do I use steel to put under the bumpstops, on top of the springs the raise the stock bump and hold it there with longer u-bolts. Or would it be better to extende the part of the stop that is on the chassis?

Cheers

Either or, whatever is easier for you, it is probably easier to just weld a bit onto the chassis as you dont need to unbolt anything and customise it to fit under the ubolts etc.

I would be suprised if your rear comes anywhere near needing to extend the stock bump stops.

locktup 4x4 sell a bumpstop extension kkit for around $80. I'm just going to weld some box section to the top bumpstop mount. on the front end. Rear I dont have an issue so can help you there.

75, 80, 100.79 series etc bump stops are a good option. They have a bolt up the guts that you can bolt to anything.

I will have a look at the cruiser stops for the rear, cheers mate.

Ended um making some for the fronts today out of boxsection with plate welded on the top and bottom and run the original u bolts. Worked well. Still trying to get the rear leaf packs to work so will sort them out eventually
