80 series Plating/bracing panhard mount at chassis

Well.. it appears that my 80 has had some front passenger side damage at some stage during its life and who ever was employed to fix it found it difficult to pull the chassis out around that area.
What i'm finding now is there is a considerable amount of bog on the chassis to disguise their inability to fix up the damage.
I am no starting to feel some slight steering wobbles (not uncontrollable) at certain speeds and would like to try and work towards fixing this issue as best as possible. I have confirmed that there is no play with the wheel bearings on either side that could be contributing to the wobbles.
I am still discovering the extent of the bog (a bit scared to remove it all) and the other side of the panhard brace on the drivers side has already had to be welded up to repair a crack along the factory welds.
As this is a vehicle I intended to take 4wding, its a given that normal 4wd use will put stress on this already weak area. Thats why I'd like to fix it up and brace it as much as possible to minimise any issues in the future.
I dont have any pics of the area yet but can get some and post them up.
Therefore I would like to know if anyone else has had to plate or brace their panhard bracket/support on the chassis before and if so what material did they use, who did it (if not yourself) and is there any thing to be aware of before, during or after this mod?
I would be willing to assist where possible and create a cardboard template of the brace to assist with the work that needs to be done.
Cheers,
Andrew
