tb42e turbo install

I am weighing up wether or not to do a turbo install on my 93 gq. The motor is the tb42e running dual fuel. my question is does anybody know wether or not you have to do any internal engine work before putting the turbo on e.g. Pistons maybe decompress the engine.
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

hey mate looking into this myself...
there are a number of good and bad points about turboing a tb42e
GOOD:
Forced induction (added power)
Easy ish to do (no need to decompress unless running large PSI, strong motor)
helps of room in engine bay.
EFI already helps too
BAD
TEMP'S (need to ensure its kept cool, electric water pump, after market radiator, Thermos, intercooler all would help)
Turbo can have LAG depending on turbo setup.
GQ's never came out with turbo petty so everything is custom.
from wat i hear, u can use a TD turbo manifold or custom one made up.
turbo can be a xr6 for turbo or T28 (SR20 silvia turbo) piggy back computer or after market programable.
6-8psi with no intercooler any more its a good idea. also this 6-8 psi can be run with standard internals and no need to open the engine.
injectors are inter changable with RB20 injectors or after market ones for RB20.
2.5inch turbo back exhaust at a minimum.
please keep it in mind this is just stuff i have read on forums so do extra research.. talk to people who have done it (ON TRACK in melbourne run tb48/45/42 turbo engines in there cars.)

thanks zas. will trall through other forums as well as this one. is good news to hear that the tb42 is a strong motor though. hopefully will be able to get over to see Joel at PGS 4WD in mornington as i dont live too far away. I hear he will be able to shed some light on my plan project.
