my truck is a 5 speed and when the motor or gearbox dies i will put a ls1 with auto in.

i would like to know if i should use the transfer box or swap it out for a 80 series , and is the motor swap the same as doing one in a 80 series.

pretty much the same as if u were doing it to an 80, t case's are the same, so not sure why u would swap? only the NA gearbox in the 105's was weaker, but u are getting rid of that anyways..

bout 3/4 of the way down this page i did a bit of a summary of wats involved
http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/forum/show ... 10&page=76

only other thing that i forgot to ad into that write up is that i didnt realise that u need to shorten down the drivers side engine mount ro fit the aircon (I found this out the hardway cos i fitted the ac later)

cheers ,cranky i just got through reading your build up thread,

the only reason i was going to change the transfer was i heard the 80 box was stronger.????

i have done a few other swaps on my trucks like a efi ford 6 to 75 series 5 speed in a 69,fj45 with 75 series diffs, [still building], commo vnv6 into 4 runner ,went very well loved the fuel and gearboxs, sold.??? now have a 2000 105 cruiser because it has coils and its big but the 1hz has no balls great for touring but not for me.I would like to try the auto thing for a change to keep it all simple .

p.s what part of tassi are you from ???? as i was born there and loved the place, moved away for work but will get back there one day .

cheers jimmy

Hey man, im from south tassie down past hobart, but workin in the Pilbara at the mo.... :? cant wait to get home!

The gearbox behind the 1hz in a 105 is weaker than the 1hz 80 box, but the t cases are the same. majority of the stuff u need is on the marks site.. but be careful with things like their headers, u can get the same headers much cheaper else where, and if u know sumone with a tig, then buy a truck sump and get it modded yourself, its much cheaper!

this link here gives u all the differnt type of oil pans for the LS's

thanks mate for the info, thats not a bad idea i might try that .

I lived in kingston for 5 years went to school there, loved it down there, then moved to launceston, trevallyn, lots of great tracks up round the hilands and down the east coast.

did you have any problems with the loom????. i think ill ask killalux to make a loom to plug into the 105 loom. to easy.
